This exhibit demonstrates rocket power. Using water and compressed air the pop bottle is propelled 25 feet. The compressed air is above the water in the bottle. Water is ejected throughout the flight… true rocket propulsion. This exhibit was inspired by children in a playground who had discovered how to launch pop bottles by holding it firm over a vertical park fountain. In our exhibit the visitor pumps both the water and air. By varying the amount of water and amount of air pressure they discover that a balance of the two is needed for a good flight.
